Oscar The Featherless Bird in Miami, Florida – Miami Information

The pet of the Broward County Humane Society, named Oscar, even though it is a girl, is a big favorite around the shelter since she is completely naked… she does not have any feathers.

Oscar was brought to the Broward County Humane Society more than 10 years ago. When she was dropped off by the shelter, they told the humane society she suffered from “beak and feather disease” and would probably only live another 6 months. Although beak and feather disease’ is considered fatal, Oscar challenged all odds. Just in some rare opportunities, birds have lived months to years after getting the disease. All the workers and volunteers at the Broward County Humane Society are very happy with the development of this case. The bird freely walks around the shelter with lots of personality; she can even talk as most birds of her kind.

The Broward County Humane Society and The Miami-Dade Humane Society are working constantly to protect animal rights and be sure Florida’s animals have a good place to live. If you know any case of animal abuse please contact the Humane Society of your area to make the report. They will surely know what to do. You can also be part of these amazing projects by participating in their events, volunteering, or making a donation.
